Christmas promises a close shave for Rod in the name of local charities

A combination of raffle prize ticket collections and sponsorship pledges saw Rod Lawrence raise (at 23rd December 2010) just over £1,400. In addition to raffle prizes, several lucky draw winners had the opportunity to use the clippers on Rod’s scalp. Following several amusing cuts his hair completely disappeared to reveal a new look. Many thanks to all who made raffle prize donations, bought raffle tickets and/or pledged sponsorship money. Below are additional photos of the event.

Entanet Solutions Sales Consultant Rod Lawrence will be making a big statement on 23rd December – by losing all of his hair. Not an act of lunacy and clearly not a fashion statement, Rod’s decision to have his now golden locks completely shaved off is in aid of two worthy charities that deserve support – Teddies for Loving Care http://www.tlcappeal.org(Registered Charity No 1087765) and the Lingen Davies Cancer Relief Fund http://www.lingendavies.org.uk (Registered Charity Number 509649).
In advance of the fateful day, Rod first surprised all of his friends and work colleagues by having his hair bleached a golden blonde. “I wanted to encourage people to start committing to sponsoring me. As I’m having my head completely shaved in just a week's time, I thought I might as well add to the fun”.
It certainly made an impact and Rod has already gained sponsor commitments totalling over £500. “I want to raise a lot more than that though. These charities need all the help they can get”, said Rod. “The Teddies for Loving Care charity alleviates the severe distress that young children face when they find themselves in hospital Accident and Emergency units. Something as simple as a teddy bear can bring a lot of comfort to a child that’s frightened. The Lingen Davies Cancer Relief Fund meanwhile is dedicated to improving facilities for people with cancer in Shropshire and Mid Wales and has already raised money to provide essential treatment for those in need.”
Entanet will be supporting Rod in his endeavour to raise funds for these worthy causes, having already supported other significant charities in 2010 including the Shropshire Blood Trust, which received significant support from Entagroup staff this month.
There’s no limit to the amount Rod is trying to raise for these charities and he is asking people to commit to sponsoring him by giving a lump sum before, on or after the day. Just before the shave on the 23rd December, Rod’s work colleagues will bid for the chance to take control of the clippers!
