Our ‘Shaping Britain’s Full Fibre Future’ roadshows have proved a fantastic opportunity to speak to lots of success-hungry channel partners across the UK in recent months about our exciting full fibre message…and more importantly the difference it can make to them and their customers if they look to drive sales where full fibre already exists rather than waiting for it to come to the markets they traditionally sell in.

We’ve already engaged with over 100 representatives from our existing and potential channel partners since kicking off our roadshows in May and what is clear is that there is a real appetite to seize first-mover advantage in the lucrative full fibre markets within our Gigabit cities.

As 2018 draws to a close, we reflect on what has been an exciting year for Entanet and take a look back at the highlights that we’ve put into the spotlight.

Some of the key topics we’ve covered throughout the year include our compelling full fibre message which we’ve taken on the road through our ‘Shaping Britain’s Full Fibre Future’ roadshows and the launch of our exciting THRIVE! partner programme.

We’ve also had our finger on the legal pulse as we scrutinised the impact on the channel of the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA) and of course…GDPR! We would like to say a massive thank you for keeping up with our opinion blog throughout 2018. We hope you enjoy your Christmas break and look forward to your continued comments and feedback in 2019!

Cultivating a culture of continuous improvement to drive Britain’s full fibre future

Posted on Dec 10 2018 by Paul Heritage-Redpath | Comments Off on Cultivating a culture of continuous improvement to drive Britain’s full fibre future

The UK’s connectivity market is seeing exciting times as the country fibres up to meet the needs of modern commerce. Leading the charge in this digital revolution are those service providers that adopt a forward thinking and innovative approach to their business.

Our channel partners have an incredible opportunity to make the government’s ambitious target of connecting 15 million premises to full fibre by 2025 a reality, and significantly grow their own business in the process.

SD-WAN or MPLS – that is the question?

Lee Hill, Pre-Sales Technical Manager

Entanet works with a wide range of partners bidding for more complex network solutions – these highly profitable opportunities open up the chance to package a complete service including data and voice connectivity, firewalls and hosting, all from one supplier.

In this highly competitive and rapidly evolving connectivity landscape, Software Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) has emerged as an alternative corporate network technology to MPLS, but in reality the direct comparison is false because whilst both solutions link sites together the underlying technologies behind them are very different.

Taking our full fibre message on the road

The UK’s connectivity market is in exciting times as the Government, OFCOM and industry all agree that significant investment in full fibre infrastructure is crucial to the future of the UK’s digital economy.

It’s much documented that the UK lags well behind the rest of the world in fibre internet penetration, with just 5 percent of homes and businesses able to access full fibre services. In 2018 the UK also slipped from 31st to 35th place in the global broadband league tables – falling behind countries like Hungary, Luxembourg and Romania.

Channel Live 2018 review: Our message – Fibre up!

Posted on Sep 26 2018 by Darren Farnden | Comments Off on Channel Live 2018 review: Our message – Fibre up!

Channel Live 2018 proved to be a great event for Entanet and CityFibre as we took our powerful ‘Fibre Up!’ message to the channel during a busy two days the NEC in Birmingham.

Now in its second year, the leading channel focused ICT trade exhibition once again proved to be a great platform to speak to potential new partners and existing customers about our exciting strategy to build full fibre to 5M premises by 2025 – and critically how they can take advantage of the significant opportunities this is opening up across the UK.

The Digital Revolution – What did the Victorians ever do for us?

Alan Fletcher

Alan Fletcher, Business Development Manager at KMi, part of The Open University

With the Government and OFCOM in agreement that investment in full fibre infrastructure is essential to the future of the UK economy, our latest guest blog from Alan Fletcher, Business Development Manager at KMi, part of The Open University, draws parallels between the current ‘Digital Revolution’ and our industrial past to ask what we can learn from our Victorian pioneers?

To be fair, it’s not just the Victorians we can learn from. The much longer period from 1700 to 1870 (starting some 137 years before Victoria came to the throne) saw fundamental economic and societal changes that we now refer to as the Industrial Revolution and the Transport Revolution. Okay, so 170 years is a long time and you should expect to see some changes over that period, right? Actually, there are pockets of rapid (given the available technology) expansion during the period in question which evidence mass adoption and significant investment in change, over much shorter periods of time.

Visit Channel Live 2018 and drive success for your business

Posted on Aug 22 2018 by Darren Farnden | Comments Off on Visit Channel Live 2018 and drive success for your business

On 11th and 12th September Channel Live will be held at the NEC, Birmingham and Entanet will be exhibiting there on stand 458. It’s an exciting place to be if you have an important message for the channel, and a great place to go if you’re seriously looking to grow a profitable connectivity reseller business. Following the success of last year’s first ever Channel Live, we’re expecting this year’s to be even better. Product launches and demos, an informative seminar programme and a chance to speak to all of the key channel players – what a great environment!

Our big push

We believe the intensifying message around the absolute need for full fibre connectivity for the success of the UK’s digital economy (and indeed its survival) is a critical one to emphasise to visitors at Channel Live. We’re bringing the full fibre opportunity to the channel and we’re in a unique position to do so. As a part of CityFibre, we’re building the UK’s alternative wholesale network, using our own full fibre infrastructure to bring Gigabit connectivity to 5 million premises by 2025.

Why women don’t need to be daunted by a job in the IT sector

Hannah Jinks, Customer Services Operative

Entanet’s Customer Services Operative, Hannah Jinks, tells us why she thinks IT doesn’t need to be just a man’s world any more…

It’s common knowledge that more needs to be done to attract more women into the IT sector, as the Harvey Nash / KPMG Chief Information Officer (CIO) Survey 2017 highlights, despite a lot of improvement happening to address a gender pay gap in IT in recent years the number of women in IT leadership roles is still just NINE percent!

It is very easy to think of IT as a male dominated industry. But, just because this has been the case previously doesn’t mean it always has to be that way. I was the only female apprentice in the cohort when I joined Entanet, which at first was a bit daunting, but the most important thing is to gain experience and learn from those around you because there is so much opportunity out there in the sector.
